WIND WARNING IN EFFECT:
NORTH VANCOUVER ISLAND   (bc47)

Strong winds with severe and damaging gusts are expected or occurring.

A rapidly intensifying low approaching North Vancouver Island this morning will reach Haida Gwaii by the afternoon.

Very strong southeast winds up to 90 km/h will develop over West and North Vancouver Island through the morning and shift to southwest winds up to 90 km/h near midday. The strongest winds will develop north of Tofino.

Strong southerly winds near 90 km/h will hit exposed coastal areas of the North Coast near midday and begin to ease late in the day.

High winds may cause downed trees or toss loose objects.

Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
